Spring cleaning...don't forget your baking tools

I use my silicone baking mats for just about everything. They work great for bacon, roasting peppers and baking a chicken. Of course I also use them to bake cookies, roll out pie pastry and brown bread sticks. In fact, I believe that the silicone baking mat is the multi-tool of the kitchen. If the silicone baking mats sit too long between uses the oils/grease from foods can linger and affect the flavor of your foods.  And sometimes the savory foods that are cooked on my mat leave flavors that I don't want in my cookies. (Onion flavored chocolate chip cookies aren't a winner!) So, I occasionally do a deep clean to make them like new. Here's how...

Deep Clean Your Silicone Mat

  1. Sprinkle baking soda on the top of your baking mat in a light layer.

  2. Take 1/2 a lemon and rub over the baking mat. This will create a paste. Scrub gently.

  3. Let paste sit on baking mat for 10 minutes.

  4. Rinse paste off with warm water.

  5. Dry completely.

The silicone baking mat is a must-have for every kitchen.

General Care Instructions

The deep clean doesn't have to been done after each use. For everyday use, wash with warm soapy water, or load in the top-rack of your dishwasher.  Always store flat or rolled.  NEVER fold your silicone baking mat.
The Fat Daddio’s silicone baking mat is temperature resistant from -40 to 600 degrees F.
Take good care of it, and it will last for years!
