How to Store Wedding Cake

It's been a long time since I celebrated my first anniversary, close to 20 years ago! But I still remember how excited I was to share the top tier of my wedding cake with my husband and family. That is until I tasked it! YUCK! It was awful! It was dry and tasted like stale ice. Don't make the same mistake I made. Learn how to properly wrap your wedding cake for your anniversary celebration.

Three important steps to follow to keep your cake fresh and tasty.

  1. Flash freeze the layer on a silicone baking mat overnight. Don't wrap it up yet.
  2. Wrap the cake in plastic wrap. Wrap round and round, do several layers.
  3. Now wrap in thick aluminum foil. Several layers. Put in the freezer.

Now the next step is to wait...enjoy that first year of marriage. Write down in your calendar to remove the cake from the freezer the day before your anniversary celebration. Unwrap the cake while it is still frozen. Set on a plate and enjoy the next day.
