Is this still fresh?
Luckily, there’s an easy way to test if your baking powder is still active or needs to be thrown away:
- Baking powder
- Measuring cup
- Hot water
- ¼ tsp measure spoon
- Measure out ½ cup of hot water.
- Add ¼ tsp of the baking powder or baking soda.
- Once you add the baking powder or baking soda, looking for immediate bubbling and fizzing. If you see bubbling, that’s a good sign. If you don’t see any bubbling or reaction then it’s time to throw it away.
QUICK TIP: The same test can be done for baking soda! Except: Add ¼ tsp of the white or cider vinegar to the hot water.
