Whether you’re a seasoned chef or a novice in the kitchen, this this crust recipe promises to bring a slice of New York right to your table. Grab your apron, fire up your oven, and prepare to impress New York Style!

Crust Ingredients:

  • 1 package of active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour

Directions:

1. In a large mixing bowl add warm water, yeast, sugar, and only 1/2 cup of the flour
(unbleached flour preferred). Stir well and let stand for 20 minutes. The mixture will
bubble as the yeast begins to activate.

2. Add oil, salt, and 2 cups of the flour. Mix by hand until dough forms a ball. Turn out
on to a lightly floured work surface.

3. Knead dough for about 10 minutes, add flour a little at a time. Add only enough flour to
keep it from sticking to the work surface as you knead. Dough should be slightly sticky and
elastic and should spring back when released. Do not over work the dough. Form in to a ball.

4. With a pastry brush (or paper towel) liberally grease a large mixing bowl with olive oil.
Dough will nearly double original size so ensure bowl is large enough. Place dough into bowl.
Drizzle a few drops of oil and coat the top of dough to prevent the surface from becoming dry.

5. Cover bowl with towel and let dough rise at room temperature for 2 hours, or until the
dough doubles in size.

6. Punch down the dough with fists and place in a large sealable plastic bag. Refrigerate for
a minimum of 2 hours or up to 24 hours.

7. Remove from fridge and allow the dough come up to room temperature. Place dough on
floured work surface. Work dough until it’s the size of the Fat Daddio’s pizza pan.
*Optional – Roll a dough docker across the dough vertically and horizontally to aerate the dough.

8. With a pastry brush, apply oil to the pizza pan. Gently lift and place dough onto the pan.

9. Begin building the perfect New York style pizza with your favorite toppings. For best results
layer in order; sauce, light cheese, meats, veggies, light cheese on top.

10. Bake at 375 degrees for approx. 15-20 minutes, or until cheese is browned and bubbling.
